Sovengar se fundó en 2013 influenciado por el sonido de las bandas de folk power metal europeo y tratando de conseguir un sonido potente y directo que no se podía encontrar en ese momento en el panorama nacional. Su primer trabajo Vindicta et Gloria fue un EP de tres temas donde la banda se daba a conocer antes de sacar el álbum homónimo de larga duración, el cual fue grabado en Metal Mirror Studios (Albacete) por Jose Manuel Martínez. Por estas fechas saldría el primer videoclip de la banda, Call to the Battle, que fue dirigido por Kronic Produccions.

2014 Sería un año clave para la banda, en el cual firmaría por Art Gates Records, con los cuales sacaría a la luz el ya mencionado Vindicta et Gloria de larga duración. También este año Sovengar grabó su segundo videoclip, Sovengar’s Song, con Frame Addicted Films, empresa con la que grabaría todos sus videoclips más adelante. En abril la banda se unía a Rock Promo OnFire, quienes administraron los directos de la banda e impulsaron la primera gira de Sovengar por todo el panorama nacional. En esta gira el grupo compartió escenario con bandas como Ravenblood, Steignyr, Immorgon, Ebony Code, Pimeä Metsä, Heid, Iron Curtain, Abortos de Satán, Exodia, Delirion, Onomasy, Furious Anger, Gigatron o Gama Bomb.

2015 La banda se desligó de las empresas con las que trabajaba y firma por MPR Management. Se graba el videoclip de Raise your Sword como anticipo del EP Warlords of Metal, producido por José Rubio (Ex-Warcry, Nova Era, Uróboros), que saldría a la luz a mediados de abril. En este proyecto se hace evidente una notable mejoría en cuanto a la composición de los temas y a la calidad de sonido de los mismos. En él se pueden apreciar las colaboraciones de Jorge Berceo de Zenobia y del propio José Rubio. Tras la grabación del EP la banda sufrió la salida del guitarrista Cesc Bayle (Thörian) por lo que tuvo que cesar su actividad durante unos meses. A finales de ese mismo año Jorge Pérez (Björn) cambió el bajo por la guitarra y entraron en la formación Juan Carlos Soriano (Eiggnar) como bajista y Manolo Parra (Hjalmar) como guitarra solista. Este cambio de formación permitió conseguir un sonido mucho más lleno y compacto gracias a la presencia de dos guitarras, algo que se haría notar con creces en los futuros conciertos.

 

2016 Ya con una formación estable la banda grabó su segundo álbum de larga duración, Metal March; que además de sacar siete temas completamente nuevos, recogía las canciones del último EP y regrababa las tres más remarcables del primer disco. Este trabajo también fue producido por José Rubio y se comenzó a distribuir a través de Yahirbol Records, empresa con la cual Sovengar llevaba todo su merchandising y en la cual se encontraban bandas como Zenobia. Para culminar la promoción del álbum antes de comenzar la gira pertinente se grabó el videoclip de You Are Metal.

 

2017 Comienza la gira Metal March, que lleva a la banda a compartir escenario con bandas como Sechem, Evil Impulse, Drakum, Ithilien, Insaniam, Anima Sacra, Phoenix Rising, Oker, Hitten, Nudo u Opera Magna, además de algunas otras bandas con las que ya se repetía escenario, como Immorgon y Onomasy. Durante esta intensa gira de conciertos por todo el territorio nacional el batería Ángel Valera (Günnar) abandona la banda y Sovengar realiza un intenso casting para buscar un nuevo batería tratando de no suspender ningún concierto. Tras esto se produce un cambio de formación en el que Amador Casado (Jötum) acaba en el puesto de batería y David Pérez (Wulfgar) toma el control de las voces en sustitución de Álvaro Marco (Raven). Ya con una formación asentada la banda sigue dando conciertos por todo el territorio nacional, incluido el festival Acordes de Rock, en el que comparte escenario con bandas internacionales como Doro o Dark Funeral y bandas nacionales como Vita Imana, Crisix, Medina Azahara, Saurom, In Mute o Reno Renardo. La nueva formación da algunos conciertos más este año por diferentes ciudades de España con los que afianza su sonido y espectáculo en directo y consigue buenas críticas y una mayor afluencia de público. Además dan su primer concierto como cabezas de cartel en Madrid.

 

2018 En febrero, la banda toca en el concierto despedida de la banda Oker con un gran éxito de asistencia. La gira continúa y ya hay programados conciertos como el Euskal Metal Fest con bandas como Muro, Leo Jiménez o Vhaldemar; el Folk Fest de Zaragoza con Lèpoka y más bandas aún por confirmar; y algunos más que pronto serán anunciados.

Sovengar was founded at 2013 influenced by the sound of European folk power metal bands and trying to achieve a powerful and direct sound that could not be found at that time in the Spanish territory. Their first EP, Vindicta et Gloria, tried to make the band known. After this, a long version of the album was released (Produced by Metal Mirror Studios (Albacete) by Jose Manuel Martínez). At the same time the band’s first videoclip would be uploaded, Call to the Battle, directed by Kronic Produccions.

2014 was a very important year for the band, when they signed for Art Gates Records, with whom they release the mentioned album. Sovengar recorded its second videoclip, Sovengar’s Song, with Frame Addicted Films, company that would record all the future videoclips. The same year Sovengar join Rock Promo OnFire, a company that arranged their first tour around Spain. In this tour the band shared stage with bands like Ravenblood, Steignyr, Immorgon, Ebony Code, Pimeä Metsä, Heid, Iron Curtain, Abortos de Satán, Exodia, In Mute, Pacho Brea, Delirion, Onomasy, Furious Anger, Gigatron or Gama Bomb.

2015 The group finished the relationship with past companies and signed for MPR Management. The videoclip for Raise your Sword is uploaded as an advance of the EP Warlords of Metal, produced by José Rubio (Ex-Warcry, Nova Era, Uróboros), which would be released in April. The sound and the composition in this project are remarkably better. You can see in it the collaborations of Jorge Berceo (Zenobia) and José Rubio himself. After the release of the EP, Cesc Bayle (Thörian) left Sovengar, interrupting the activities of the band for some months. Finally that year, Jorge Pérez (Björn) changed the bass for the guitar and Juan Carlos Soriano (Eiggnar) and Manolo Parra (Hjalmar) joined the band as bass player and guitar player, respectivaly. This formation change let the band achieve a fatter and more compact live sound.

2016 the band recorded their second album, Metal March. This album contents 7 totally new songs and the new recording of the last EP and three classics of the first album. This project was also produced by José Rubio and it was distributed through Yahirbol Records, company that handled all the merchandising of Sovengar with bands like Zenobia. In order to increase the promotion of the album the videoclip for You Are Metal was released before the tour.

2017 The Metal March tour began, where the group shared stage with bands like Sechem, Evil Impulse, Drakum, Ithilien, Insaniam, Anima Sacra, Phoenix Rising, Oker, Hitten, Nudo or Opera Magna. Sadly, drummer Ángel Valera (Günnar) left the band during this tour so Sovengar did an intense casting in order to find a new drummer without laying off any show. After this Amador Casado (Jötum) enter the band as drummer and David Pérez (Wulfgar) take the control of the vocal part. With these components the band continues playing through Spain. This July Sovengar will perform in “Acordes de Rock” fest sharing stage with international bands like Doro or Dark Funeral and also national bands like Vita Imana, Crisix, Medina Azahara, Saurom, In Mute or Reno Renardo. The new line up did a few more shows this year around different cities that helped it to improve its live sound and performance. Sovengar received some good reviews and a little more audience attendance. Furthermore it did its first headliner gig in Madrid.

2018 The band plays with Oker in their farewell concert with a great success. The tour continues and now there are some fests programmed such as Euskal Metal Fest with great bands as Muro, Leo Jiménez or Vhaldemar; the Folk Fest of Zaragoza with Lèpoka and many more bands; and some more fests that will be announced soon.
